Acupuncture for Pregnancy and Birth and Post Natal
Acupuncture is a natural and safe treatment that can be used during pregnancy from the early stages right up to the preparation for the birth itself and afterwards. It is important to support women throughout their pregnancy and it provides relief when other treatment options haven’t worked or were not viable.
It is also helpful in relaxing you and an effective way of avoiding a long labour and can in some cases turn a breech baby.
Acupuncture can help in treating:
- Morning sickness and Nausea
- Headaches
- Body pain
- Digestive issues
- Insomnia
- Fatigue and Tiredness
- Preparation for Labour
- Pre-birth preparation and relaxation
- Post-natal care
Anxiety in Pregnancy
Many patients who come to me for help with their fertility issues and for fertility support, often carry-on treatment to support their pregnancy once they have conceived. This is really advantageous and offers continuity of treatment as I know them and their case history and this can alleviate some of the anxiety especially in the first trimester. Being pregnant after fertility treatment or a loss can be a very stressful time and cause a lot of anxiety and acupuncture can help support patients through this time.
Pre-birth preparation and relaxation acupuncture is a safe treatment aimed at promoting a natural labour, ideally started from around 36 weeks.
See The British Acupuncture Council website, if you’d like more information about acupuncture in pregnancy.
